For you moms that are considering putting white edible screen print on red icing...DON"T !!! It will turn your son's cake pink...and then you have to spend the entire birthday party saying "yes, I know it's pink and no that is not his favorite color"..........
It has been about a month since we took our first ever cruise. Like I had said in my previous post...I was unsure of what to expect. I pictured being "stuck" on a boat with 3 seasick kids in a cramped closet of a room for 7 days. BOY WAS I WRONG. This cruise by far has been my most memorable, relaxing vacation out of any of them. It was much needed family time and my kids actually survived all 7 days without their iphones....it's a miracle !! It was 7 days of not waking up at 6am, not rushing the kids to school, not having to meet the daily deadline, not answering emails, not feeling the daily guilt of being a working mom, not staying up until 1am to finish that final, not having to figure out if we had spaghetti "too many times" this week. Yes, it was 7 days of quality, never wanting this moment to end, letting them eat all the ice cream they want time. I am already looking forward to our next one in October. Until then, here is to hectic days and sleepless nights. Counting down to our first cruise !!Alot has happened in the past year !! I have started a new full time job, my side business has grown and I have gone back to school to complete my M.B.A. In between all that, my husband started a new job and our 3 kids are very active in school and sports !! With all of the chaos in our lives, we decided to book our first cruise....a 7 days cruise..yikes !!
They say you either love it or hate it so we will see which side of the fence we will be on :) Only 5 more weeks and we will be in the Dominican Republic, Turks and Caicos, Bahamas and Half Moon Cay...looking forward to some R & R So, I took a year off to focus on a (now)toddler, 2 pre-teens, a new job and a growing business. Alot has happened this past year..Alot to catch up on...some good and some bad. Most of it I will be posting about over the upcoming weeks and months..It's a new year...a fresh start and here's to the best year EVER !!
I am finally back from a whirlwind trip to Pigeon Forge and Nashville this past week ...Very jam packed schedule but much (MUCH ) needed family time !! While visiting the Pigeon Forge area I decided to take the family to 2 very "talked about" shows to see what the hype was all about.
The first show we saw was the SMOKEY MOUNTAIN OPRY. I wasn't sure what to expect going into this one...especially with 3 small kids , hoping and praying we could get through the first 15 minutes without meltdowns and being escorted out ! After stopping at the concession for popcorn and drinks we settled down into our movie theatre like seats and the show began. Once the lights went down and the curtain went up..it was non stop action, singing, magic, juggling, animals, special effects and so much more !! My 16 month old son kept his eyes glued on the stage for the entire 90 minute show and especially loved Slim Chance the juggler. There is a 15 minute intermission that gives you plenty of time to refill the popcorn and break away to the restroom. There is reason why this was voted "Pigeon Forge's Best Show" and was given the prestigious "Certificate of Excellence" award by trip advisor. This is a MUST SEE if visiting the Pigeon Forge area !! You must Pre-Book your show time due to tickets sell out far in advance... you can book them at www.smokymtnopry.com and check them out & all the great reviews on their facebook page https://www.facebook.com/smokymountainopry Our final show we booked was the Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Show. We have driven by this very unique building several times in the past with the kids screaming "Please take us there !!". So I decided to give it a shot and boy did we have an AMAZING time !! Spend some time before the show with the kids in the outdoor "farm" area where there is goats, chicken, rabbits, pigs and more. Once inside you are seated at your OWN table, which means the world to me and anybody that has young kids knows exactly what I am talking about. Make sure to come hungry and maybe wear your elastic banded pants because the food is EXCEPTIONAL and they keep it coming....soup, fried chicken , bbq, beans, coleslaw, corn, biscuits, dessert AND you can even get your own jar of their famous moonshine :) The cast is very interactive, hooting and hollering against the other side (we sat on the McCoy side), the dancing and singing is unlike any other show you have seen with non stop laughs through the whole 2 hour show. Another Must see when in the area !! This is a fairly new show so make sure to book your tickets in advance at www.hatfieldmccoydinnerfued.com and visit their facebook page https://www.facebook.com/hatfieldmccoy Asheville in a Blink of an eyeJust returned from a WONDERFUL night in Asheville, NC for our QUICK anniversary trip. We stayed at the Renaissance downtown, which I highly recommend !! This hotel is within walking distance to all downtown activities and has been recently updated. Zep & staff is extremely friendly and always willing to help with any questions you might have, especially when it comes to directions ! We were even treated with complimentary wine & cheese waiting in our room..as a special treat for our anniversary...thanks Zep ! We started the evening with dinner at Zambra's (small tapas plates with a great wine selection). My hubby's favorite band of all time is AC/DC so I surprised him with tickets to see the tribute band at "The Orange Peel" that evening. After dinner, we headed over to the concert and had a GREAT time "rocking out" ....I even broke out the red lipstick :) Trying to plan a night getaway for our anniversary without our 3 kids just doesn't look possible. It has been 14 months since the hubby and I have had a night to ourselves (funny how our son is exactly 14 months old...hmm). So , I'm still trying to work out those plans but in the meantime....this little piece is on my wish list :) |
