While in New York, we visited the American Museum Of Natural History Museum located on Central Park West at 79th street. We were so excited to visit this MASSIVE museum and to see where "The Night At The Museum" was filmed !! The Museum includes 45 halls plus the Rose center for earth and space. Some of the most popular halls and the ones that my kids really enjoyed were the African Mammals, Asian Mammals, Birds of the World and The Dinosaur Wing. While your there try to catch some of the Exhibitions !! We let the kids pick which 3 they thought they would like to see the most. The Butterfly Conservatory ~ This is a neat exhibit where you walk into a large (very warm) room with butterflies flying throughout the room and some even land on you ! This one decided to land on the doll's head ! Journey to the Stars ~ Is a theater experience created by the Museum’s astrophysicists and is narrated by Whoopi Goldberg. This is an amazing show that offers lights and sounds that younger children will love
Whales: Giants of the Deep ~ This exhibit showcases the biology and evolution of these creatures and offers visitors a glimpse into the past ! Plan to spend all day at the museum and one quick tip...Eat before you go in if you can. They do offer a cafeteria but is quite expensive and very congested during peak hours. We decided to take a weekend getaway to Pigeon Forge, Tn and we had a blast !! Our trip started with a christmas dinner show at Dixie Stampede which was so much fun. I was a little skeptical when making reservations as I was not sure if I wanted to eat my dinner with horses and dirt....Boy was I surprised. The stables and arena were gorgeous, the show was spectacular and the food was AMAZING !! The highlight of our trip by far was the Hollywood Wax Museum. The museum just opened May of this year and is 22,000 sq feet of fun, celebrity figures and even a horror section. There are plenty of photo opps and the figures are eerily life-like, pose with Marilyn Monroe, Brad Pitt, Elvis Presley and many, many more. We did the "pick 3" which included the museum, Castle of Chaos (fun 5-D ride) and Hannah's Maze of Mirrors. If you are visiting the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area the Hollywood Wax Museum is a MUST SEE !! They are open 365 days a year and You can check them out at WWW.HollywoodWaxMuseum.Com/PigeonForge. They are located at 106 Showplace Boulevard, Pigeon Forge, TN 37863. This has to be one of the funniest viral pictures ever !! I had to share......picture is courtesy of people.comWe all knew it was horrible for our waistlines...we just never knew how bad it really was. Well, sad news this week that Mcdonald's (along with other chains) is being forced to post their calories on every menu item. If you have not experienced "the real numbers" yet it will definitely make you think "Do i really need that 720 Chocolate Banana Shake attached to my thighs" ?? The days of oblivion are officially over...kinda wish we never had to know the truth :( |
